Is the park suitable for wheelchair users?

The park is set within 88 acres of down land and a wooded valley. This means that the route around the site is sloping in places and some paths have a gradient of 1:5. The majority of the park is accessible by wheelchair, but some paths are gravel or grass based. Visitors in manual wheelchairs who wish to visit all areas of the park should be accompanied by strong helpers.

Those using electric mobility scooters must ensure they are confident using the equipment and do not exceed its capabilities. Particular attention should be paid to the paths leading to and from the Squirrel Tower (Canopy Skywalk) and the Falconry Centre and Display Area where gradients are likely to be at their steepest.

Is there any transport within the park to help getting around?

During most of the season, the Big Red Tractor Train operates a route throughout the park. Due to the nature of the park, guests who struggle walking distances or steep hills may benefit from using the Tractor Train to get around, particularly when wanting to return to the entrance and exit at the top of the park.

The train runs a constant loop of the park with stops at the entrance, Lower Valley and African Adventure. Please ask one of our admission team for details on timings during your visit.

Are there any specific accessibility sessions?

Yes! To ensure that all our guests are able to enjoy the park comfortably and safely, we run very popular Accessibility Sessions. During these sessions, we close off certain areas of the park, turn off the music and lift some of the usual requirements for a limited number of guests. Find more detail on these sessions on our accessibility page.

How do I qualify for a free carer ticket or Frequent Visitor Pass?

Guests who require additional assistance whilst visiting the park are able to claim free tickets or Frequent Visitor Passes for their carer(s). Robin Hill partners with Nimbus Disability, operators of the Access Card scheme, to assess and manage applications for our Essential Companion tickets. Can I hire a wheelchair or do you provide assisted mobility?

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide wheelchair or disability scooters for hire at the park. We recommend that all guests with questions about accessibility download our Accessibility Guide in the first instance.

Where can I find more information about accessibility?

We have a range of facilities available to help make park visits more suitable and comfortable for our disabled guests. Please download our Accessibility Guide for more details to help you plan and make the most of your visit.

You can find more information on our Accessibility page, and if you still have questions, please get in touch with us via [email protected] or 01983 527352.
